Free vision screening

Eye care professionals recommend having your vision checked at least once a year, whether you need vision correction or not.

Vision screening – what is it?

During the vision screening, vision correction (glasses/contact lenses) is determined and selected, the general condition of the eyes is assessed, and advice is given on the type of glasses or contact lenses.

1. Consultation

During the vision screening, the eye care professional will ask you about the factors that cause eye fatigue, which can affect the quality of comfortable vision. They will also ask about your type of work, your work environment, and activities that cause eye fatigue and dryness (e.g. long hours in front of a screen, being in air-conditioned rooms, etc.).

2. Vision screening

The examination assesses visual acuity; determines the type of vision; and evaluates the general condition of the eyes (dryness, light sensitivity). If spectacles/contact lenses are required, a full, comprehensive selection of vision correction is made.

3. Discussion of results

After the screening, your eye care professional will discuss the results, advise you on eye health issues and, if necessary, recommend the best glasses, contact lenses and other products to support your eye health and comfort.

How is the adult vision screening process?

  • The test determines the visual acuity, which is rated at 1.0 / 0.8 / 0.7 / 0.6 etc.
  • An autorefractometer tests the optical power of the eye. The results are used to determine farsightedness, myopia and astigmatism. Corneal corneal opacity is determined for the selection of contact lenses.
  • The distance between the pupils – Pd – is adjusted using a special device. The Pd distance for distance glasses is different from that for reading glasses.
  • After the autorefractometer readings have been evaluated, test spectacle lenses are placed in the vision correction frame to determine the vision correction. Additional eye tests are used during the verification to select the most appropriate vision correction.
  • The general condition of the eyes is examined with a slit-lamp microscope. The examination includes an examination of the eyelids and cornea. The microscope is also used to assess the position of the contact lens in the eye.

Frequently asked questions

Ar reikia tikrintis akis, jei man nereikalinga regėjimo korekcija?

Taip,  net  jei  Jums  regos  korekcija  nereikalinga,  regėjimą  rekomenduojame  tikrintis  bent  kartą  į  metus. Reguliari akių patikra taip pat leidžia laiku pastebėti regėjimo pokyčius, diagnozuoti akių ligas ar net sveikatos problemas (pvz., cukrinis  diabetas,  padidintas  kraujo  spaudimas  ir  kt.), kurių pirmieji simptomai pastebimi būtent akyse.
