Spectacle lenses reimbursed by the SCA
Spectacle lenses can be reimbursed for both children and adults if the ophthalmologist determines that the visual acuity of the better-seeing eye with full correction does not exceed 0.5 visual acuity units.
New! From 01.04.2024 , most of the cost of spectacle lenses, i.e. even 70%, is reimbursed for all children up to 7 years of age, regardless of visual acuity.

To purchase reimbursable spectacle lenses, you must provide:
- proof of identity of the child and parent/guardian;
- a medical discharge/referral letter (form E027 or 027/a) from an ophthalmologist with the disease code – Z46.0. The medical certificate/referral is valid for 180 days. Hearing aids reimbursed by the SCA
All people covered by compulsory health insurance (CHI) are entitled to a reimbursable hearing aid. Hearing aids can be fully or partially reimbursed.
New! As of 1 July 2022, adults covered by Compulsory Health Insurance who have been diagnosed with a hearing loss are entitled to 2 hearing aids FREE of charge if prescribed by an ENT doctor at a level III medical institution. Those who have completed the paperwork for one hearing aid before 1 July are also entitled to apply for a second hearing aid.
The age of the hearing impaired person also varies according to the length of time the compensation is available:
