Is it safe to wear contact lenses during a pandemic?

Do you wear contact lenses? Worried that this is not a safe way to correct vision during a pandemic?

Rest assured, according to the World Health Organisation, there is no scientific evidence that wearing contact lenses during a pandemic is unsafe or increases the likelihood of contracting COVID-19 compared to wearing corrective spectacles.

Contact lenses are a healthy and safe choice.

To ensure maximum eye protection and comfort, we have prepared a short guide to contact lens care. Make sure you don’t miss any points and share your knowledge with others.

  • Wash and disinfect your hands. Remember to wash and dry your hands thoroughly before inserting or removing contact lenses;
  • Avoid touching your face or eye area – if you can’t avoid it, make sure your hands are clean and disinfect them first;
  • Choose daily disposable contact lenses – these contact lenses are designed for one day, so they require no extra care and the short wearing time reduces the chance of infections.
  • Do you wear reusable contact lenses? Make sure your contact lenses are properly cared for – clean them daily with a special contact lens care solution, follow the manufacturer’s contact lens wear duration, and use moisturising eye drops for maximum comfort.

Attention! If you suffer from allergies or flu symptoms, choose only daily disposable contact lenses and combine contact lenses and glasses.
