PLAYBOY magazine was founded in Chicago by Hugh Hefner, otherwise known as “Hefu”, in 1953, when he hired a 27-year-old publisher and a young model who became world famous as Marilyn Monroe.
The first issue of PLAYBOY was designed by the publisher on his kitchen table and featured the most famous nude photo of Merlin Monroe on the cover of the magazine. The magazine quickly became part of American mass culture. Since then, PLAYBOY has evolved into a brand and lifestyle that connects tens of millions of men and women around the world.
Today, PLAYBOY is one of the world’s top ten most famous brands.
