Company anniversary – a field of military fun

Choose a theme for the party

Exploding bombs. Screams in tents. The assault and interrogation processes on the battlefield. The camouflage military wardrobe. Soldiers’ porridge. Commanders’ commands and formation chants.

And all this is not a military exercise for conscripts or volunteers, but a celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Vilnius-based company “Optikos pasaulis” by the Plateliai lake.

Optical World Collective

A few years ago, companies used to celebrate in the usual way – feasting, socialising, dancing and singing. Now that is no longer enough. In a world where celebrations are more frequent, more varied and more entertaining, you want something more exciting at a company party. That’s why company managers call in professional entertainers to create scripts and assign roles to the team.

Bombs and grenades exploded

Why did “Optikos pasaulis” choose war? Maybe because modern weapons don’t come without good optics? Or maybe because a soldier needs good eyesight, or at least good glasses? But doesn’t the battle in the market sometimes resemble war?

The whole environment of the rural tourism farmstead “Ąžuolų sala” was also favourable for the simulation of military field exercises: the hill with the farmstead, the site of the army headquarters and the terrace, which turned into a stage for performances of the company’s units’ teams, with open tents with military feasting tables next to it, and a valley below it with tents for accommodation for overnight stays and a basketball court. From Saturday morning onwards, the war was played out here. There was a fake bomb-throwing competition with water balloons, followed by a fashion competition to create outfits out of newspapers.

Basketball was not easy either, because in addition to shooting baskets, you had to blow up balloons tied to players’ feet to make the opposing team’s player fall out of the basketball court and the team get smaller. Fans who were angry threw water balloons at the players, even though this was not part of the rules.

Not without stripping

Teams from different cities presented theatrical reports. They were chanted, sung and read from a sheet. Kaunas and Kėdainiai played the role of a medical squad, pouring into small glasses a mysterious medicine
against a dangerous virus. The dancing nurses treated anyone who wanted to be treated in this way.The Vilnius troop, in an attempt to expand on the military theme, called their performance “Dream World in the Army”, which included some gentle striptease elements. During a rhythmic dance and chant, the girls, with military determination, stripped off their military trousers and jackets, remaining in short skirts and sky-blue T-shirts.

Title for the Director of Personnel

After the group presentations, the staff were awarded for their good performances at the rally and their good work. Ten minutes to twelve o’clock – a surprise that some people dreaded, simulating an attack. To add to the fear, special fireworks and sound recordings of explosions and gunshots woke up those who had rushed to their beds in the tents. The Director of Personnel is interrogated and later given the title of General, accompanied by celebratory fireworks that are no longer military, but festive. “Many people thanked us for the celebration, although some of them felt a little tired,” said the Director of Personnel the next day. She was once again convinced that celebrations like this are much needed.
