“Optikos pasaulio showrooms offer advanced Acuvue® contact lenses

Good news for contact lens wearers from Optikos pasaulio shops and salons.

They already contain the latest Johnson & Johnson Acuvue® Oasys™ contact lenses with Hydraclear™, a moisturising factor that protects your eyes from dryness and ensures maximum comfort. “After wearing the new Acuvue® Oasys™ lenses, some of my patients simply forget they are there, as if nothing was in their eyes,” says Rimas Jakštas, eye care specialist at Optikos pasaulio. He believes that this is the highest compliment to the lens manufacturers.

Johnson & Johnson is one of the world’s most advanced lens manufacturers. For the third year in a row, Johnson & Johnson’s latest Acuvue® lenses have won the top prize for the year’s most impressive achievement at SILMO, the international optics trade fair in Paris.

“Acuvue® Oasys™ maintains moisture

The latest generation of lenses, Acuvue® Advance™ and Acuvue® Oasys™, are made from silicone hydrogel, the most advanced contact lens material available today, which makes the lenses soft, flexible and extremely oxygen permeable.

“A common problem with conventional lens wear is that the second half of the day, the eyes start to dry out and the lenses start to irritate the eyes. The new Acuvue® Advance™ and Acuvue® Oasys™ lenses contain Johnson & Johnson’s patented Hydraclear™, a humectant that maintains the eye’s normal moisture. “Hydraclear™ spares tears, the lens is slower to release moisture to the environment even in adverse environments, such as air-conditioned and dry indoor air, prolonged computer use and other conditions,” says R. Jakštas. For those who complain of dry eyes, the specialist recommends trying the most advanced Acuvue® Oasys™ lenses. “Because it has been proven in clinical studies that these lenses are the ones that keep the moisture in the eye longer than others and provide maximum comfort,” says Jakštas.

Highly conductive to oxygen

One of the important features of the new Acuvue® Advance™ and Acuvue® Oasys™ silicone hydrogel lenses is their high oxygen conductivity. “The cornea of the eye has no blood vessels and receives virtually all the oxygen it needs from the atmosphere, so the oxygen conductivity of a contact lens that blocks the cornea’s contact with the atmosphere is of paramount importance,” emphasises R. Jakštas.

The latest Acuvue® contact lenses have an ultraviolet (UV) filter. “In this respect, Acuvue® Oasys™ lenses outperform all other soft lenses and have the most effective UV filter. However, the eye care professional reminds us that contact lenses with a UV filter prevent harmful UV rays from entering the inside of the eye, but do not protect the whole eye and eyelids, so we must continue to wear protective glasses when we are out in the sun.

The healthiest – disposable contact lenses

“Optics World stores and salons offer reusable and disposable 1-Day Acuvue® contact lenses. “Disposable lenses are the right way to wear contact lenses and the healthiest for your eyes. This way, the eyes are less irritated, as plaque does not build up on the lenses when they are replaced every day, and the chance of infections is reduced,” explains R. Jakštas. – It has been proven that the more frequent the lens changes, the healthier the eyes and the more comfortable the wearer feels.” According to the specialist, the optimum lifetime of lenses for extended wear is up to one month, when they are taken out every night. “Johnson & Johnson recommends even more frequent replacement – every two weeks.
