Is the cost of a late visit to the ophthalmologist strabismus?

Untreated strabismus limits a person’s ability to do certain jobs: he or she cannot drive a car, work as a dentist, an electrician, a surgeon, a millwright, or any number of other professions. Strabismus is a complication of uncorrected hyperopia or astigmatism, in simple terms a consequence of not wearing glasses on time, and complications are notoriously more difficult to treat. Therefore, if your doctor has prescribed glasses, you must wear them.

A person with normal vision is able to merge the images of both eyes into one, judge the distances of objects, and see a single image with both eyes, whereas a person with strabismus cannot merge the images into one. If only one eye is dazzled for a long time, the vision in that eye deteriorates, the eye becomes lazy and does not develop. It is forced to work with the better eye covered. Both the parents and the child have to endure temporary discomfort.

Most parents are only concerned about their children’s eyesight when they are about to enter the first grade. Doctors say that by then, vision problems should be corrected and cured. The earlier they are detected, the easier they are to overcome. Parents should keep this in mind.
